Sovereignty and Safety: A Conversation About TMX

We respectfully acknowledge that our work and studies take place on the traditional, unceded territories of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) and kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) Nations. Unceded means that these territories have never been handed over, sold, or given up by these nations, and we are currently situated on occupied and stolen territories. As such, our organizing must always center on Indigenous voices in the fight for a more sustainable future.

On March 10th, Justice, No Pipeline will host an information session about the Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion. Because this is an intersectional issue, we will have speakers present on both Indigenous sovereignty and the safety risks posed by the expansion. All are welcome, though we especially encourage members of the Burnaby Mountain community and SFU students/faculty to attend.
